from attorney Rod Snow and his wife to the Brodbecks, concerning a
lovely holiday dinner and [another of] Dee's thoughtful
gifts. Rod Snow was the mother's attorney in a custody
case (District Court, Douglas County) No. 00DR0479; Dee Brodbeck was a court-appointed
"neutral" in the case.
As common sense would suggest, CFIs should, "Avoid
ex parte communication, which is any communication
in which at least one party does not have notice and an
opportunity to participate in the communication.
Communication with only one party's attorney has the
potential to undermine your neutrality, or your presentation
of neutrality." § C1.5 of
The Role of the Child and Family Investigator and the
Child's Representative in Colorado, First Ed. (Robert
M. Smith ed., CLE in Colo., Inc., Supp. 2005) (subsection
entitled, "Working with attorneys).
Email from Dee Brodbeck to feminist Lenore
Walker, author of the "Battered Woman's Syndrome." Brodbeck,
apparently, started from a conclusion and, working her way
backwards, consulted with Walker to,
"be
pointed to the literature, so I can explain to the judge,
using research quotes, that men, who have dysfunctional
relationships with the women in their lives, are very, very
often dysfunctional fathers to their daughters as the child
matures."
Reply email from Lenore Walker, advising
Brodbeck to,
"Get the
label "domestic violence" on the dad's behavior . . . This
gets a different handling in the courts."
In this "local
Yellow pages and City Guide for Aurora" page, a
review-comment has been posted, which states: "Save
your child and stay away. This couple admitted in
court they did not investigate the child and the people
who knew her, yet placed her with a mother, who had a 10
year history of heroin and crystal meth addiction, and
had 3 positive heroin/opiate tests in the last 6 months
and
[with] a father, who beat the mother [and] of
one of his children in the head and attempted to kill
another. They lied and said they investigated the
problems of the parents, saying they were all better,
yet testified they did not have the expertise or
education to make that recommendation . . . They
do not investigate best interest[s]
of the child and [have]
admitted so. Transcripts are available for any party,
whose child was abused by a special advocate, child and
family investigator or parenting coordinator."

I have personal information on Dee Brodbeck.
Twice she was involved in a very contested
divorce between my ex and I. My ex-husband and
his family have unlimited financial means. The
relationship was riddled with domestic violence
and alcoholism. Dr. Brodbeck suggested that
while father should have custody, he should have
nanny to watch over children during daytime
hours. She also recommended that he complete
sessions with Dr. Charles Hazelhurst. He went
through 5 nannies; he "terrorized" them,
concerns over his drinking and abuse/neglect
went untended. At the time of the final divorce
he was charged with domestic violence at the
behest of Arapahoe Co. Social Services, and when
trial came along, he was immediately
hospitalized for acute pancreatitis, a direct
result of his abuse of alcohol, yet still
nothing was done to protect my children. There
are many more instances where her decisions
placed my children in harms way, if you'd like
to have more details, feel free to respond.
Thank you for all you do, |
